I highly suggest you stay at an American Hotel like Holiday Inn, Motel 6 (yes they have them in Spain) because Europeans hotels are tiny cramped rooms with even smaller bathrooms, rude employees and extra fees, like if you want to use the pool you have to pay 10 euro (my experience in Italy) even if you’re staying at that particular hotel. The American hotels keep the same accommodations in Europe as they do here; large rooms, convenient service, etc.

hi! you can go to this site for travel inquiries:
    http://www.tripwiser.com/trip_destination-Madrid_Spain?itiNodeId=8a8c80fe152a92f401152d103a913ea1&eType=site&log_operation_source=useMainAutoComplete
the page is in Madrid specifically. you can find the links to things to do, hotels and restaurants on the right had side.
    good luck and enjoy!

For a one month stay, I would suggest considering not a hotel, unless you’re rich enough to allow yourself a five-star one that would make you feel at home; but an extended stay/apartment hotel. Many of these hotels also have very good rates for you if you stay for such a long period.
For example, Old Town Apartment Hotel (right at the centre)http://www.hotel.de/Booking.aspx?lng=EN&…
    Prado Apartmentshttp://www.booking.com/hotel/es/prado-ap…
    Room Mate Lorehttp://www.booking.com/hotel/es/laura-ro…
    Apodaca http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/apodaca-…
    Caballero de Garciahttp://www.booking.com/hotel/es/caballer…
    And several others: http://www.hotel.de/Search.aspx?hs_lnh=2…

Another idea is to look up hotel review sites, what are the best hotels in Madrid that fit your budget, regardless of being a suite/apartment hotel or not: http://www.booking.com/searchresults.htm…
